Tortilla Soup!?

I hate soup. I really do. I really only Wor Wonton Soup and Egg Drop Soup. Sometimes, I'll find something I like, but than not really like it more than once or twice.

I love this tortilla soup from Food on the Food.

I made it last night, and it's a hit. Even with my Step Dad who really isn't a soup person either. Wow.

I did make a couple of changes simply because I really don't like a lot of cilantro so I cut it by more than half. That worked best for us. An extra can of tomatoes and also some water because I didn't have enough chicken stock. Believe me I was trying to figure out how the hell I did that.

This was fast-ish. I totally plan on making more next week to stick in the fridge. That would make my day.

Wait! I Post You Say!?

So I am posting. I now have camera batteries, no man around to make my life miserable and my kids are in the swing of things.

Basically I had a huge upheaval in my life. A move, both of my little kids starting school, a separation, and a very strange not really a relationship (that I know of. Ha).

I'm ready to get back into the swing of things.

To the extent that I am now making my famous brownies. Which will be made more famous in about a month. IT'S TOP SECRET! *Shhhhh!*

I Made Lots Of Stuff

So I haven't had any REAL food to speak of. So when I finally went to the store, I went crazy. The first thing I made was Fire Cracker Shrimp, which because I can roll a joint, cigar, these turned out GORGEOUS. I only had TINY wrappers and BIG wrappers, so I'd have to find a way to get MEDIUM wrappers next time for the size shrimp I can get.

I also made a wonderful tomato, cucumber and avocado. Than, we made a "dressing" with rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, and whatever else he put in it that I can't remember. It was yummy.

I've been living on cucumber and avocado with rice wine vinegar and sesame seeds. It's amazing. It's crunchy and sweet with a hint of bitter.

Also. Mexican Pizzas just like Taco Bell.

And I'd show you pictures. But my camera batteries are dead. And I can't find my rechargeable. *Sigh* Next time I suppose.

Well, Well, Well! Yet Another Food Blog.

I know what you are thinking. "Why is there another food blog on the internet?"

A few months ago I caught a bug. A baking bug. I used to bake all the time as a teen. I made cakes from scratch for my friends, I cooked my own lunches and dinners at home, and I was pretty good at it. In my early 20's I just stopped doing that. I started eating to much junk food, becoming sedentary, and popping out kids. I lost that love of food my teenage years had cultivated. Luckily, my Fiance had a love of cooking and went to culinary school. He does most of the cooking in the house because he loves it so much. When our roommate (here by known as La Langue Fourchue) moved in, he began teaching me baking techniques as he is a trained baker (how handy!).

So now I bake. A lot. But I noticed that I was putting on weight. Again. And a lot of it. I also noticed that certain foods interact with my fibro and I needed to make several changes to my diet. That's been a hard road to travel, cutting out some of my favorite foods (ahem potatoes).

So I have a goal. To become a better cook and baker at home, as well as learning to indulge in healthier foods (as well as my favorites), learning new baking/cooking techniques, and trying new foods. One of the challenges I have is finding foods locally that I can use in different ways. I live in the desert and in a small town, so sometimes when I want to make something, I'm S.O.L. But I'm going to work on making recipes that many people can make, even if they live in the middle of nowhere.

So. I would like to meet other bloggers who bake and cook. Cook anything! Vegetarian, vegan, "ethnic", drinks, high carb, low carb, ect.
